- Gainsborough’s House, Sudbury – The museum and gallery at the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough.
- Kentwell Hall, Long Melford – Visit the Hall, extensive gardens and rare breeds’ farm.
- Melford Hall, Long Melford – Visit the house and gardens.
- Suffolk Farmers Markets – Taking place monthly in Lavenham, Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds.
- Long Melford – A whole host of antique shops, independent shops, galleries, tea rooms and pubs.
- Lavenham – Regarded as England’s finest medieval village and food capital of Suffolk. Visit the Guildhall, church, and for any Harry Potter fans, the streets of Lavenham were used as a background for scenes in Godric’s Hollow. Lots of lovely independent shops, tea rooms and pubs also – and after a long walk, make sure to visit The Parlour for some delicious local ice cream.
- Arger Fen & Spouses Vale, Assington – a beautiful nature reserve with a variety of walks for all. Particularly pretty in bluebell season, and you may also be able to smell the wild garlic.
- River Stour Boat Trips – Departing from Sudbury.
- Stour Valley Adventure Centre, Sudbury – Canoe hire, kayak hire, paddleboard hire and lessons.
- Bury St Edmunds – Visit the Cathedral and Abbey Gardens, plenty of shopping opportunities also, and the - --Greene King Brewery which offer tours.
- Dedham and Flatford – Explore Constable country.
- Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park, Ipswich – home to over 80 species and breeds on site and owned by farmer and TV presenter Jimmy Doherty.
- Newmarket – For the races, and National Horse Racing Museum.
- The glorious Suffolk coast – Aldeburgh and Southwold – approx. 1hr15min drive.
